Seasonal Services Policy

CTC recognizes the unique needs of members in central and northern Minnesota — especially those with seasonal residences. To better accommodate members who use CTC services at secondary homes or cabins, and in acknowledgment of the region’s short summers and long winters, the following policies have been established.

Policy 1: Seasonal Limited Service

Members electing to enroll in “Seasonal Limited Status” may maintain internet service at a reduced rate of $16 per month. Service under this status will operate at a limited speed of 5 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload, intended primarily for functions such as security system connectivity or the operation of smart devices.

No reconnection or disconnection fees shall apply to accounts under Seasonal Limited Status.

Short-term service reconnections (for example, at a cabin during the holidays) are subject to a minimum one-month charge. Members must contact CTC to provide both the reconnect date and the date to return to the Seasonal Limited Status plan.

Policy 2: Full Disconnection

Members may choose to place their account in “Full Disconnection” status, during which all services will be temporarily suspended. Members are required to return all CTC-leased equipment prior to disconnection and must contact CTC to restore services upon their return. A reconnection fee of $275 will be applied at the time-of-service reinstatement.

Television Services

When a member elects to place their television service on vacation suspension, or if they are subscribed to a package that includes television service, a monthly fee will apply during the suspension period. The fee is $4.95 per set-top box for “grandfathered” traditional television service, or $10 per EVOForce1 Streaming Box for members subscribed to CTC StreamTV. This fee covers the cost of maintaining the equipment at the service location. Member-owned TV equipment (e.g., Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, or similar) is exempt from equipment charges during a Seasonal plan.

Television services can remain on vacation for as long as the account remains in good standing. If the account falls out of good standing, CTC will charge the member $150 per set-top box to cover the cost of unreturned equipment. The member then has 30 days to return the equipment in good condition to receive a refund for the unreturned equipment charges.

Additional Provisions

If a member subscribed to a “grandfathered” package or bundle that is no longer available elects to participate in a vacation plan, their services will be automatically transitioned to the most comparable package currently offered upon reconnection.
