The Affordable Connectivity Program in 2024

In 2021, a federal program called the Affordable Connectivity Program, or ACP, was created to provide low-income households with monthly credits on their internet bill.

Affordable and reliable internet is critical for families and businesses throughout Minnesota.

The ACP projects to run out of funding in April 2024, and Congress has yet to secure additional contributions to continue this program.

If Congress does not fund ACP, over 245,000 Minnesotans will see increased internet bills.

BSG, a research firm, recently conducted a study and found that if ACP is discontinued, 67% of rural participants fear losing their household’s primary source income, 75% fear losing access to healthcare, and an astonishing 81% of ACP parents worry their children will fall behind in school.

Everyone deserves access to high-speed, reliable internet—regardless of where they live or their household income.

All of us at CTC are asking you to advocate for ACP participants. We request that you reach out to your local representatives and let them know what will happen to so many hard-working Minnesota families if ACP shuts down.

The ACP Extension Act was proposed in early January and has bipartisan support. Congress needs to act on it.

We appreciate your support on this critical issue.
